Justin was born in Medicine Hat, Alberta in 1968. He was raised in rural Saskatchewan, and received his high school diploma from Cupar School in Cupar, Saskatchewan.
After high school, Justin attended the University of Saskatchewan, and graduated with a bachelor of science in mathematics in 1989.
Four days after his last university exam, Justin began his career with UMA Engineering and UMA Surveys. He worked for Conrad Swenson, SLS, at UMA in Regina from 1990 to 1995. In the fall of that year, Justin enrolled in the Geomatics Engineering program at the University of Calgary and received his bachelor’s degree in 1998. Upon graduation, he joined Challenger Surveys / Geomatics and performed a short term of articles under Ed Grenkie, SLS.
In the year 2000, Justin rejoined his old mentor Conrad Swenson at Swenson Surveys in Unity. In 2002, Swenson Surveys merged with Caltech Surveys Ltd, and Caltech is Justin’s present employer.
Justin was commissioned Saskatchewan Land Surveyor #289 on September 10th, 2004.
