Gene was born in Bengough, Saskatchewan on May 31, 1954 and lived on the family farm on the NE1/4 Section 25-7-25-W2M and the town of Horizon before moving to Regina in 1961.

After graduating from O'Neill High School in 1972 he started work for Surveys Branch of the Saskatchewan Department of Highways working with Ian Lane, S.L.S. on Legal and Control Surveys throughout Northern Saskatchewan.

Gene articled to Ian and received commission number 236 on July 10, 1981. He worked for the Department of Highways/Central Surveys and Mapping Agency as a district Land Surveyor until 1984 when joined Condon Surveys.

In 1985 he moved to Swift Current and started a branch office called Boundary Surveys, later changing the name to Condon Survey Group which is now part of Altus Geomatics.

Gene resides in Swift Current and enjoys golfing, spending time at his cottage at Regina Beach and travelling.

Over his career Gene articled 4 students, Wayne Adams, S.L.S., Alan Jensen, S.L.S., Gerald Johnson, S.L.S. and Travis Wolfe, S.L.S.
