It is with deep regret that we announce the tragic and untimely death of John Howard Lennon, Manitoba and Saskatchewan Land Surveyor. John was killed in a tragic accident on January 22nd while flying a wing kite. John was born at Virden Manitoba, on May 31, 1937.

He was raised in rural Saskatchewan where his family farmed and received his public schooling at Kola, Manitoba, and his high school training at Maryfield, Saskatchewan. He began his survey career in 1956 with Kolba Surveys in Manitoba where he served until 1959.

From 1959 to 1965 he was employed by Neumann Surveys who were affiliated with Underwood and McLellan and at this time wrote for his Commission as a Saskatchewan Land Surveyor. He received his Commission on May 3, 1965, Commission No. 184.

John served briefly with the Manitoba Department of Highways in 1966 and in May of that year established his own private firm of Lennon Surveys at Brandon, Manitoba, where he and his family continued to reside.

John was Vice-President of the Manitoba Association at the time of his death and was active in the affairs of the Association. He was also a member of the Canadian Institute of Surveying.
