On November 19, 1981, Harold Archie Clampitt died in Regina at the untimely age of 57 years.

Archie was born on January 26, 1924, at Woodrow, Saskatchewan. After completing his high school education he attended Teacher's College at Moose Jaw and taught school for two years before he entered the University of Saskatchewan. He graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering in 1948.

From 1948 to 1953 Archie was a resident engineer with the Department of Highways. In 1953 he articled with T. N. H. Crump and obtained his Commission as a Saskatchewan Land Surveyor in 1954. He served with the Surveys Branch until 1956 when he became Supervisory Engineer for the Municipal Road Assistance Authority where he worked on the development of the new grid road program.

In 1976 Archie was appointed Deputy Minister of Municipal Affairs where he remained until 1979, returning to the grid road program where he remained until his death.

After joining the grid road program Archie remained on the Active Register of the Association until 1977 and on the Non-Active Register thereafter.

Archie was a great family man and sports enthusiast, active in youth programs, especially hockey.
Archie is survived by his wife, Dorothy, a daughter, Janine, and a son, Fraser. As a member of a large family, Archie was predeceased by three brothers and two sisters and survived by four brothers and four sisters.
