Roger Lee Morrow

SLS
Commission #227
(1979.07.05)
Articled to B.E. Hoever

I was born in Regina, Saskatchewan in 1953. I graduated from Ogema High School in 1971 and obtained a Diploma in Survey Technology from the Saskatchewan Technical Institute, Moose Jaw, in June 1973.

I then began my career with Midwest Surveys (Sask) Ltd. and in 1976 I articled to B.E. Hoever (Commission #144), obtaining Commission #227 in July, 1979.

I opened and managed a branch office of Midwest Surveys in Unity until 1990 when I moved to Maple Creek to open and manage a branch office there. I obtained Commission #1573 as a Canada Lands Surveyor in 1996. I retired on December 31, 2008. I worked reduced hours for four more years at Midwest Surveys in Maple Creek before becoming a full time amateur golfer.

I was married to J. Wendy Morrison on October 20, 1973 and we have two children, Michael and Angela (Angie).

I am proud to have been the principle for two articled students who have gone on to obtain their Commissions as Saskatchewan Land Surveyors. They are Brian Burridge and Jill Burridge (nee Cheverie).

Two highlights in my career are as follows:

  • As far as I know, I was the first Saskatchewan Land Surveyor to have a bi-lingual Plan of Survey approved in the Province of Saskatchewan.

  • I am honoured to have been the principle for the first female Saskatchewan Land Surveyor – Jill Burridge.
