Jim Condon was born in Lebret, Saskatchewan. He attended elementary and high school in Lebret and graduated grade 12 in 1956. On February 14, 1961, Jim was married to Eileen Maloney in 1961. Jim and Eileen have three children and eight grand-children.

In 1956, Jim was employed with Canadian Engineering Surveys Ltd. and continued his employment there until 1961. During that time, he worked predominately in oilfield surveys in south-east Saskatchewan and mineral claims in northern Manitoba. Jim began his articles in 1961 to Roger Vossen. While employed by Mr. Vossen he completed his articles and received Saskatchewan Land Surveyor Commission No. 181 on April 27, 1965. From 1965 to 1967, Jim was employed as a field supervisor with Harding and Boss Surveys Ltd. In 1967 Jim assumed the position of Manager of Legal Surveys for BB Torchinsky Consulting Engineers. In 1970, Jim entered private practice and incorporated Condon Surveys Ltd. in 1971. This firm is carried on today and is now known as Condon Survey Group Inc. Jim began his retirement in 2001 but continues a limited involvement in an advisory capacity.

Throughout his career, Jim was very involved with the Saskatchewan Land Surveyors' Association serving on many committees and as Association President in 1977. From 1979 through 1983, Jim served as Saskatchewan's C.C.L.S. Director, and as National Chairman of the C.C.L.S., Professional Liability Insurance Committee from 1977 through 1984. Jim had four article pupils, W.J. Schoenfeld, Commission No. 226, P.M. Maloney, Commission No. 243, B.M. Jordens, Commission No. 264 and R.D. Rosnes, Commission No. 277.

In his retirement, Jim enjoys spending time with his family and the odd round of golf.
